David Desberg, 13, raised $7,000, including his donated bar mitzvah gifts, for ORT America's Adopt a Computer program through its Teens for Teens iMitzvah Project, providing funds for seven needy students to receive laptop computers fully loaded with the software they need for school. David is the son of Andrea and Gary Desberg, of Orange Village, Ohio.
A student at Brady Middle School, David decided to pursue a mitzvah project in connection with his bar mitzvah at Fairmount Temple on June 7. "I had been looking for a mitzvah project with computers when I saw the article about ORT's Adopt a Computer project. I thought this was great. It's not only a computer project, but it is for ORT which is primarily a Jewish organization."
The ORT America Teens for Teens iMitzvah Project gives students meaningful mitzvah projects to conduct as they prepare for their bar/bat mitzvahs and helps students become involved in their communities through volunteer work and fundraising for the ORT program. Read more.
